William Lorenzo, Jan Jansky and Karl Landsteiner, people to first classify blood in to blood groups.

All of them were serologists who devised various methods to classify blood into various types.

William Lorenzo Moss developed the Moss system of classification which classified blood into 4 basic types.This was used In USA until 1935.
From 1935 onwards,his method fell out of favour and Karl Landteiner's method(A,B,O) was used.
Jan Jansky independently conceived of the A,B,O and AB method in the 1920's and this was prominently used in the USSR.
