Question 1250: Jingo all the way

X is a shareholder of the football club Y (which is based in the town he was born) in an attempt to assist the club from debt. According to reports, X owns 10 percent shares and was also requested to hold the position of vice president of the club, which he turned down. Though, his uncle, who represented Spain in international football, became assistant coach of the main team of Y. Shortly after acquiring his share in Y, he slammed UEFA for alleged hypocrisy in banning Y from the 2010–11 UEFA Europa League for excessive debts. He claimed that if that was the criteria upon which UEFA was operating, then the European competition will only have 2 or 3 clubs as most of the other clubs have enormous debts too.

He is also a longtime supporter of the Spanish national team, and was one of only six people not connected to the team or the national federation allowed into the team's locker room after Spain won the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Question 1249: 'believe. become'

In 1931 brothers Kedarnath and Dwarakanath Anand establish Sanspareils Co. in Lahore. The company manufactured a wide range of sports goods. Some time later, the company shifted base to Sialkot. In 1945 the brothers also established a company named Greenlands to facilitate export at a time when world was overshadowed by World War II. It acted as the international wing of Sanspareils.
In 1947 after independence the companies moved to Meerut and started building business from scratch. In 1965 Sanspareils joined hands with Frank Bryan Ltd., a leading manufacture of protective sports gear. This association turned out to be a milestone in it's history, ushering it into premium manufacturing. Soon after, the company introduced the 'Featherlite' brand which was endorsed by Vijay Manjrekar.
In 1979, following an exclusive agreement, the company began manufacturing protective gear for the legendary 'X'. The company also stereo-typed it's sports production in order to achieve quality and specialization. Ironically following a merger in 1982, the company started marketing sports gear under the name 'Y', mistakenly related to 'X'. 'X' endorsed 'Y' till 1987 making it #1 brand in India. Today 'Y' is not only the #1 brand in India but also the world's largest manufacturer in it's domain.
