Question 1406: Bad boys corner ..

Pictures from a five-day battle fought between the forces of the United States 7th Army and Nazi Germany during WWII which happened at _______, Germany. Battle that took place from 16th April -20th April 1945 saw some of the fiercest urban combat of the war. The capture of the city by the US forces meant a virtual surrender by Germany in WWII as the city was a center of the Nazi regime.

Well a footballing landmark that happened in 2006 gets unduly connected to the above event because of the nature of the incident and of course the German connection.

What am I talking about?
