Question 695

X, in his fictional book on the life of Y claimed that Y was the first man to achieve the feat which is now credited to Z and his partner. As a result, Z saw it it as an insult as there is no proof of Y achieving the feat and all the evidence suggests that Y did not achieve it. Identify X,Y and Z. Explain all you can.

Answer: Jeffrey Archer(X) in his book The Paths of Glory based on the life of George Mallory(Y) claimed that the British was the first person to set foot on Mt. Everest in the 1920s which remains a much-debated theory as Malory died during the expedition wthout leaving any evidence of his achievement(or not) and today Sir Edmund Hillary(Z) is credited for the same.

The controversy was that in his book, Paths of Glory, Archer claimed that George Mallory and Sandy Irvine were the first ppl to conquer Mt. Everest way back in 1924, but there is no concrete evidence regarding the same...
