The name of this small village X is derived from the red flower Butea which is known as Polash in Bengali and flowers in the spring. In 1998, the Khaitan Group, which has a factory in this village X for making sugar, had tried to change the name to Khaitan Nagar. However, protests from the locals led the group to scrap the proposal.
