Question 1349: Zor ka Zhatka!

Pic shows person 'X' making notes below the machine ___________, which he supposed would be the most valuable of all his inventions. His work on the matter lead to a an open rivalry with another prominent scientist 'Y' working on similar issues.

Some sources have claimed that because of their animosity toward each other neither was given the Nobel Prize in Physics, despite their scientific contributions; that each sought to minimize the other's achievements and right to win the award; that both refused ever to accept the award if the other received it first; and that both rejected any possibility of sharing it.

The character 'X' appears in a 2006 movie 'Z' which also features some sort of a prototype of the machine ___________, albeit used for different purposes. The film also portrays the above mentioned rivalry to considerable extent.
