Question 1108

Quizlexic's 3rd birthday is today! Yippee!

So proud!

Change of perspective maybe?

A new announcement: Will be starting theme rounds soon, sorry for the delays...

Moving on to today's question:

X(who, conveniently, shares his birthday with Quizlexic!) was awarded the Goethe Prize in recognition of his contributions to psychology and to German literary culture. In January 1933, the Nazis took control of Germany, and X's books were prominent among those they burned and destroyed. X quipped: “What progress we are making. In the Middle Ages they would have burned me. Now, they are content with burning my books.” In 1938, Nazi Germany annexed Austria which led to violent outbursts of anti-Semitism in Vienna, and X and his family received visits from the Gestapo. X decided to go into exile "to die in freedom".

Who?

Answer: Sigmund Freud it is. Not Hermann Stehr
