Question 1436: Amen ..

The name for the practice 'X' comes from the Latin for "knowing, in its complete meaning" and the Greek word for "study". 'X' comes to be defined as "the study and handling of the spirit in relationship to itself, universes, and other life."

In 1901, Allen Upward first coined the term "as a disparaging term, to indicate a blind, unthinking acceptance of scientific doctrine" although it is not evident that the present reference for the word was based on this first coinage.

Separately in 1934, philosopher Anastasius Nordenholz published a book that used the term to mean "science of science".

The symbol for 'X' resembles the Christian cross but has extra diagonal rays to represent the eight dynamics of 'X' (Self, Family, Society, Humankind, Life forms, Matter, Spirit, Infinity or Supreme being) as its eight points.
